When I logged on to this site I thought that you would talk on how something like 'reading can cause blindness' (not like I agree or anything), but not about some stupid book light. If you are going to talk about that then call it 'Book Lights Kill You' or something. So change the name.

I heard Sir Ken's talk on C-Span. As a former public school teacher. I second what he has to say. I'll buy his book. Also would like more information about getting involved in this movement.

Not a lot of people seem to know this but Stats Canada subcontracted out various aspects of the census (such as all the online stuff and scanning the results) to a subsidiary of U.S. arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin. As if giving money to the U.S. war machine isn't bad enough, under the U.S. Patriot Act the Dept. of Homeland Security or the FBI could request and receive any of our personal information (that Lockheed Martin gets their hands on) and no one would ever know about it. And for those who believe that such a thing would be impossible it recently came to light that L-M provided NASA with over 5 million U.S. citizen's census data from 1990 for some sort of terrorist screening program NASA was testing/running.

The stupidest thing about this is that the justification for using L-M is that Stats Canada didn't have the expertise to provide a technological solution for web-based statistical information gathering. I'm a software developer and that comment is nonsensical. If Stats Can didn't have the brainpower surely there is a large set of intelligent Canadian companies who could have provided a solution.

I'm boycotting the census to send a message to the government. This sort of nonsense has to stop somewhere, and I'm not letting the U.S. government get any information about me. Check out http://census.vivelecanada.ca/ and http://www.countmeout.ca/ for all the details.

In response to all the chatter about Jack Trout's comments on Word-of-mouth marketing, Trout invited a group of "buzz evangelist" to face off with him on his radio program. Steve Rubel and Rick Murray of Edelman, Emanuel Rosen of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association, Seth Godin, Joseph Jaffe and Errol Smith (me....producer of Trout Radio) sat down to deconstruct the buzz around word-of-mouth. I listened to all the arguments before sitting in on the roundtable discussion to end the series and concluded that rumors of Jack's passing are indeed greatly exaggerated... You can hear the interviews at the roundtable wrap up at:
