qwned
January 6, 2006I came across these word and had no clue what it meant. Here is the answer I found:
A corruption of the word “Owned.” This originated in an online game
called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled “owned.” When the
computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so “has been
owned.”
Instead, it said, so-and-so “has been pwned.”
It basically means “to own” or to be dominated by an opponent or
situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.”Man, I
rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned.”
OR
“That team totally pwned us.”
Inspiration for 2006
January 5, 2006I’ve made some New Years resolutions this year like most do but I’m determined to tackle each one. Actually if you refer to them as goals you are more likely to succeed… well I think so
These are goals I have set for myself knowing full well that some of them might not be reached.
So in order to inspire others who have set goals I have a story. Over three years ago I moved into the condo I presently live in. When I came to view the unit for the first time I saw this gentlemen in a wheelchair just outside the front entrance smoking a cigar. After moving in and living here for this time I had seen this gentlemen many times. I had opened doors for him many times and encountered him many times on the sidewalk going to the mall in his electric wheelchair. No matter what the weather was like this guy would be off. You would glance out the window one day and see him coming home or going out. If it was raining there he was outside, if it was snowing there he was in one foot of snow about to get stuck, if you decided that day it was horrible to go out there he was. On one extremely cold day, actually bone chilling, who do you see coming home and with a red glowing frozen face? This man amazed me, I shook my head at times. You would also find him many kilometers away from home while you were driving and wonder how the hell did he get down here. You would find yourself at the mall and there he would be. He had a stroke and had limited use of one hand but did well in handling that stogy and opening his drinks. Unfortunately last year he passed away. His photo was placed in the building lobby notify residents and if you wanted to attend the funeral. After hearing about it from others and then seeing the photo I went back to my apartment. I don’t know how often you get emotional about a stranger whom you really didn’t know but I had tears flowing down my face. Seeing his daily struggle and watching him win and fighting that wimpy weather we all make such a big deal about. Nothing could stop this man except one thing in the end. What is stopping you from accomplishing anything in your life. It didn’t stop this man from getting up everyday getting in his wheelchair and taking on the challenges with physical pain.
What I learned from this man I don’t think I would have gotten from anyone.
Thank You Les
