Interesting comparison from Business Week as to how Starbucks and McDonald’s are becoming more similar. McDonald’s is replacing its coffee with upscale organic, on the other hand Starbucks is selling sandwiches and replacing it’s espresso machines with idiot-proof one button versions. I have been reading the comments about the new at&t logo from designers. How could you possibly satisfy us designers since we are never happy with anything. One design to please the many. My personal opinion is the new logo or new refinement is a little better. The only problem I have is that the transparent rings within the sphere are lost and won’t show properly under different applications. Yes its a sphere which rings (beachball) which anyone with Illustrator could have accomplished easily. But the real point I want to make is that designers put so much weight in the success of the logo which means little to the success of the business. The individual at&t customers will not even notice the new logo or care. Is the service being provided optimal, it the technology working and are the prices competitive are more of the concerns of the individual user.
Rumours have been floating around the internet:
The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, and the Hostess Twinkies. Early in his career he faced a minor scandal for appearing in “Hot Crossed Buns,” a short movie that exposed his affinity for the pop ‘n fresh genre. Nonetheless, Doughboy rose quickly in show business and remained a roll model for millions. Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
This a good example of co-creation.
